Day 8: March 30, 2024

Last day in France and what a day !!! As heading to Normandy towards grey skies and grey memories of History the sun has been kind enough to lighten this ultimate expedition … First stop in Longues sur Mer to discover one of the remaining German Battery with its typical set up : observatory bunker on the edge of the cliff and Artillery bunker behind equipped with canons to shoot towards the sea Then stop in Omaha Beach to pay respect to all the American soldiers buried there and stop by the actual landing beach. Last but not least : la Pointe Hoc - heavily bombed cliff where cabins were supposed to be found - massive efforts for nothing … Awesome way to wrap up what was a great trip before heading back home !
