Day 4: April 1, 2024
Day 3 - Glasgow - April 1st - Xan and Camilo
It was game day. Where we instantly woke up and got ready to leave for the game. We were preparing to play Clyde Bank FC. It was a very different experience from our normal games because of things we’ve never experienced before. Such as turf, different ball sizes, three thirds instead of halves, proper dressing rooms and much more. The opponent was tough but small. They were very good on the ball and had amazing technical abilities. But, because of sizes, strength, and a lot more experience and teamwork we were able to overcome them.
After the game, they invited us to their “clubhouse” for food and drinks. They were very welcoming and very nice even though we were from a different country. We talked a lot with them after the game. We learned more about the culture during our conversations. They had interesting questions for us too.
After the game, we took the coach back to the hotel. When we got back to the hotel we had 30 minutes to get ready and get back down to lobby before we left for the Glasgow city tour. Because of this, we had a competition to see which people in which room could get ready first and down to the lobby. So, when we got back to the hotel, we sprinted out and up to our rooms and quickly got into the shower and got ready to go to Glasgow. We ended up being the second group ready and back in the lobby.
After everyone was ready we got back on the coach and drove to the main part of the city. In the city, we visited a very old house that was built (and is still standing) before the US was even found by Columbus. After we visited the old house we went into a church that was built around the same time. Both of these places gave very interesting insights on how people lived a very long time ago.
Eventually, we left the old places and went to a more renovated place. The mall! We back at the town square in a couple of hours. We used our time very wisely while we were there. It was cool to see all of the items and things Scotland has that the States don’t. From the mall we got an assortment of jerseys, food, and other cool things. It felt like we had just started shopping, but we already had to leave. We rushed back to the square and found out that we had to get back on the bus quickly.
While on the bus, we talked about what we wanted to do when we got back to the hotel. We decided that we would swim (at least the people that wanted to). When we got back, we went to our rooms and changed into our swim suits. We spent around 45 minutes in each the pool before we had to eat dinner.
After dinner, we met up in Aidric and Bubba’s room to play a game we bought at the Celtic FC store. But eventually we decided to play Sardines. That was how we ended the night. We played Sardines and then went to bed getting ready to wake up early the next morning for our training session.
