Day 2: March 30, 2024

This is the blog for the first day of the Scotland trip that AYSO took at the end of March through the beginning of April in 2024. Written by Jenna Dinwiddie and Josh Sanchez. On the first day we all had different arrival times, so the first time the entire group met up was in the afternoon at the hotel. The Golden Jubilee Conference Hotel was absolutely astonishing! It had beautiful bushes, colorful flowers, and mossy green trees. The inside of the hotel was also very beautiful! Moving on, when we got to the hotel our rooms weren't ready yet so we explored a little. We found this area where there was a restaurant. Some people got food and others took a moment to relax. After not too long we got into our rooms. Once everybody was done getting into their rooms we had a meeting. During this meeting we met our awesome tour guide Andy! He introduced himself and told some lovely and definitely hilarious jokes. Andy really got this party started. He additionally set boundaries and rules for us to follow and he did it in a fun, memorable way. We then had time to get even more settled in and set up in our rooms. We also got ready for our first event. This event was just a practice to get rid of the stiffness that the long flights brought. When we got to the fields it was sprinkling. This next thing that the kids did was a bit of a mistake on our part. We left our soccer bags unattended under a little shade. Which Andy later told us was a great way to get our stuff stolen. Lesson learned. Anyways, we had our practice and it was actually quite nice. We then went back to the hotel and cleaned up. It was now time for dinner. The dinner was super duper good and so were the desserts. Following dinner all of the kids on the team had a blast playing hide and seek, then we went to bed. This long day came to an end and with that so does this blog.
