Day 8: July 6, 2024

Today we were able to sleep a little bit more and rest. We left the hotel at noon to watch the U16 boys' quarterfinal match. Our club mates were playing against the same club from Madrid that we faced in the first game. The match was played in Zubieta, on the training fields of the Real Sociedad. The Olympic boys did very well, they resisted until the end and won the game in the pk shootouts. Once the game was over we went to Bilbao, which is the largest city in the Basque Country. Although the rain on the way was very intense, when we reached our destination it stopped and we were able to enjoy a quiet afternoon. We got off the bus near the Guggenheim museum and walked along the river to the old town. We cross the bridge of the famous architect Calatrava and enter the old part of the city. Then we had free time to have lunch and explore the surroundings. We visited the old square, the cathedral, the 7 streets, the Arriaga theater, the Plaza Moyua and the Gran Via. Before taking the bus back to Irun, we stopped at San Mames Stadium, home of Athletic Bilbao, to take our last team photo.
