Day 8: March 18, 2023

Started our day with a hearty breakfast and then on to Burnley FC's training ground to play against their Academy Team. Their facilities were superb and we had a very warm welcome. The parents / supporters were able to access their media suite and get a pre-match coffee / tea while the team got ready and headed out for their warm-up. The match kicked off at 11:00am and was very competitive, however, Burnley showed their resolve and came out on top by winning 7 - 0. Despite the score, it was a very entertaining and friendly match with our GK making some excellent saves including saving a penalty. The match finished with handshakes and a group photo. From Burnley we headed back to the hotel for lunch and then on to Etihad Stadium to see Manchester City play against Burnley FC in the FA Cup. The manager of Burnley is Vincent Kompany who is an ex-Manchester City player who has been immortalised with a statue at Etihad Stadium. He was given a warm welcome by Manchester City and their fans prior to kick-off. The match ended with City winning 6 - 0. We then headed back to the hotel and closed the tour with a short meeting. Some of the group are heading back to Heathrow Airport at 3:00am whilst others are flying from Manchester Airport. Such a quick week and hopefully has created many positive memories for everyone.
