Day 5: March 15, 2023
Our day began with breakfast and once done we headed off by coach to the Tower of London.
London was extremely busy today as the subway workers were on strike as were teachers. There was a planned demonstration at Trafalgar Square so between that, with the many thousands of protesters, police and general public who were having to travel by car, the roads were chaos so our journey took a bit longer.
We arrived at the Tower of London and the group separated and made their way around the attraction. Some did a Yeovil Tour whilst others made their own way round. I would imagine that most, if not all got to view the Crown Jewels. We met up outside in readiness for our walking tour of London. Everyone enjoyed the visit to the Tower.
We headed off and reached St. Paul's Cathedral and decided to break for free time and take in lunch whilst visiting the Cathedral, Covent Garden and meeting up at Lillywhites, a five-storey sports emporium.
From there, we headed to Buckingham Palace walking through Green Park where some saw the many birds, including the green parakeets feeding from people's hands and wandering squirrels hovering around for food.
A few picture opportunities and then on to Big Ben, Westminster and Westminster Cathedral.
The rain was on by this time and the group were glad to hear that the bus had come to our side of the Thames River to collect us. Back to the bus for a long busy journey back to the hotel.
Dinner was at the hotel although some decided to visit the local Indian Restaurant which went down well.
All in all, another good day.
